On the afternoon of March 21, IBEI hosted a roundtable on the challenges of translation in the 21st century between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe, with the participation of experts and renowned translators Isabelle Gugnon, Susanne Lange, Megan McDowell and Carolina Orloff. Maria Grau-Perejoan, Lecturer in Caribbean Literatures and Literary Translation at the University of Barcelona, chaired the discussion.
The speakers talked about their own translation practices and their relationship with the publishing industry, and discussed the narratives that circulate about Latin American and Caribbean authors in Europe. Attendees were able to engage in a conversation with the participants.
This event was organised within the Kick-off Meeting of the MSCA-Doctoral Network “Understanding Latin American Challenges in the 21st Century” (LAC-EU).
