LAC-EU will hold its first network event in York, on March 19-21, with two activities open to the public
After a kick-off meeting in Barcelona in March 2024, the entire LAC-EU doctoral network will convene for the first network event. Hosted by the University of York, the event will take place from March 19 to 21. This will be the first time for the PhD candidates to meet in person, and they will be joined by representatives of the different institutions that compose the network.
Throughout two and a half days, the doctoral candidates will immerse themselves in enriching experiences. They will present their research projects to network members, receive feedback, and participate in workshops and lectures tailored to their research needs. The programme will also feature two public events.
On Friday 21 at 9h30, the LAC-EU network event will feature a panel discussion on the implications and challenges posed by the far right. The panel will be chaired by Vicente Ugalde (Colegio de México), who will guide the discussion through two insightful presentations. The first lecture is titled “Far Right in Europe and Latin America” and will be given by Daphne Halikiopoulou from the University of York. The second lecture, “The International Dimension of Latin American Populism: Global, Regional, and National Impacts,” will be presented by Leslie Wehner from the University of Bath.
Thursday at 18h, Mestisa will perform a captivating blend of traditional and popular music from Latin America, showcasing the rich tapestry of the region’s diverse musical landscape.
If you are interested in attending any of the public events, please send a message to laceu@ibei.org.
See you soon in York!
